La Cueva de Nerja is one of the most spectacular caves in Spain. A natural wonder where we can always return and has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest.
Nerja Caves provide a look back in history to a prehistoric man. The wall art found in one of the cave’s hidden chambers gives significant information about that period. The artifacts are not open to the public but you can take a tour through the caverns, the best and largest prehistoric caves in the world.
Kids searching for bats ended up with the wealth of human habitation of Paleolithic Period that stretches back 25,000 years. The caves provide a treasure of the prehistoric period conserved in the form of artifacts, paintings, and skeletons.
The enormous caves present extensive grottoes and archaeological remains. Spread over 5 kilometers, the caves are a series of underground caverns. They contain the largest stalagmite in the world. The towering stalagmite is a 32-meter high column, the highest in the world.
Frigiliana is perched like a balcony on the slopes of the Sierra Almijara that enables it to provide one of the prettiest and most spectacular views of the Costa del Sol.
The whitewashed houses of Frigiliana transmit peace and charm. The prettiest “pueblo blanco” is a perfect place to relax and unwind thanks to the lack of traffic and noise. The village is decorated with beautiful narrow and steep streets that will take you back to middle age.
The white-washed houses and the vibrant blue skies, the painted doors, the multicoloured flowers hanging from the beautifully decorated flower pots are the perfect canvas to paint your imagination. The views from Frigiliana are truly spectacular and panoramic.
The locals take pride in maintaining the beauty of the village. The well-maintained facades of the houses are testimony to their efforts. The houses are whitened from inside and outside both. Walking through the narrow and cobbled streets is a wonderful experience. Everywhere you will find a variety of shops, tapas, bars, and restaurants.
You can see the twelve ceramic plaques situated throughout the old section of the village that represents the Moorish uprising and the last battles that were fought in the area.
Visiting the countryside, the beautiful villages, the inviting beaches, and captivating mountain ranges is the most rewarding way to travel.

El Ingenio de Frigiliana- The Frigiliana Sugar Mill
It is a Renaissance palace from the sixteenth century. It belonged to the counts of Frigiliana which was headed by Don Manrique de Lara. It is known as El Ingenio as it houses the only cane honey factory that exists in Europe at present. Spread over 2,000 square meters, the building was built in part with materials from the Arab castle.
