Mijas White Village

The beautiful Andalusian pueblo is a picture of endless white houses climbing up the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas.

The deep green of the pines will offer you one of the most recognizable and picturesque images of Andalucia.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded cities, you will have a memorable time at Mijas.

Population: 3,523
Altitude: 428 m (1,404 ft)

Mijas is the most popular Andalusian Village along the Costa del Sol. It is located in middle of the mountains of Sierra de Mijas and it still remains a traditional White Washed Village.

Is it really worth visiting a small little village up in the mountains like Mijas? I believe so!

The privileged geographic situation between the sea and mountain of Mijas is the reason for its multiple attractions. Its extensive territory is divided into three urban districts.  Each district offers a distinctive look to the municipality. This is how Mijas is deeply rooted in traditions along with innovation and modernity. Mijas generally has mild weather. The temperature drops while you move up in the mountains. During the winter, precipitation slightly increases and ice may also form.

The oval bullring; the sanctuary Virgen de la peña chapel, and the village patron saint, are some of the most emblematic buildings in Mijas. Donkey taxis are an interesting way to tour the village. It is the white capital of the burro-taxi.

Another great idea to spend quality time in Mijas is to simply wander around the streets. The white-washed homes and narrow passageways make Mijas one of the most beautiful white villages in Malaga.
The local economy of Mijas is solely dependent on tourism.

Eager to find out about the traditional Andalusian way of life? How they used live during the Civil War and how they live today? Well, Mijas is that place!

Let me tell you all the stories of all that and how the legend behind the shrine of The Lady of the Rock is so intriguing.
How the donkeys became Donkey Taxis? Fancy taking a donkey ride, on these Burro-Taxi, a reminiscence of the old village life?

The Best time to visit Mijas

The visit to Mijas depends on what you are interested in. The summer months of June to August are hot and Mijas are overcrowded with tourists.
